I am a self-taught artist living in York. My interest in art began when I was a child. I was inspired at that time with characters from children’s stories and animations by using just coloured pencils. I remember the time when there was a competition at my school  for the best picture of the year. I was very excited and could not wait to enter it.  A week later I was more delighted to know I won it! But years later as I grew older I took another path in my life and  did something absolutely different from art – the law!

In 2002 I decided to have a go at art again and joined an art club, focussing on watercolour. I exhibited a few times, mostly painted flowers and also did some pencil drawings but gave up art to look after our oldest son.

In 2015 I got an opportunity to get back into art. I was overwhelmed ! I started to paint by using different styles, techniques and expanding myself in such mediums like acrylic, watercolour and ink, also creating portraits of animals using coloured pencils. It has overtaken my life and I was painting and learning art full time!!

I am a Yorkshire based artist specialising in palette knife work. I enjoy working with acrylics. I have developed a passion for landscapes, seascapes and coastal paintings which reflects the rugged shapes, tones and unique light of North Yorkshire. I see the Moors and Wolds in different moods and seasons aiming to encapsulate a feeling of a place through my vibrant colours.

My inspiration comes from my home in Yorkshire and the contrast and balance brought by light and tones and bright colours. I create my paintings from my own sketches and photos I take of scenes that attract me.  Also I work en plain air when there is a plenty of sunshine!! Art is my passion. Art helps me to express myself. Art is my true friend! I want to build on what I have achieved already and keep on learning , being inspired and for my work to be seen and appreciated by more people!
